Every year, the Child Abuse Trust Centres receive 1,713 reports of sexual abuse. This is still greatly underestimated because a large proportion of victims are not reached by the official authorities. The text on the birthday card that Donald Trump allegedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein does not explicitly mention child sexual abuse, but it is highly suggestive. When in doubt, don’t doubt. Every suspicion of sexual abuse and child abuse requires a response. That’s why VECK (Vlaamse Expertisecentrum Kindermishandeling) responded, by sending a reworked version to Flemish politicians and opinion makers. In this way, they called for attention and a stronger approach.
