At the brightest time of the year, the Christmas lights in the Rue Botanique – a dimly lit alley in central Brussels - is adorned with five expansive Christmas light garlands. Created by Mutant, each garland intricately portrays motifs dedicated to addressing street harassment against women. This art installation vividly captures the challenges women often face when alone on the streets, amplifying the collective plea for safer streets during the holiday season: "All I want for Christmas is safer streets."
Op het helderste moment van het jaar wordt de Rue Botanique – een schemerig steegje in het centrum van Brussel versierd met vijf grote kerstlichtenguirlandes. Gecreëerd door Mutant, toont elke guirlande op gedetailleerde wijze motieven die aandacht vragen voor straatintimidatie van vrouwen. Deze kunstinstallatie brengt levendig de uitdagingen in beeld waarmee vrouwen vaak te maken hebben wanneer ze alleen over straat gaan, en versterkt het collectieve verzoek om veiligere straten tijdens de feestdagen: "All I want for Christmas is safer streets."
